Yesterday, #NFA celebrated Take Your Child to Work Day. This year, NFA’s “Special Investigators” participated in a scavenger hunt, fingerprinting activity and shared lunch with their loved ones. Thank you to the investigators for their hard work! #TakeYourChildtoWorkDay

#NFA was delighted to host our recently elected Board Chair Gerry Corcoran, CPA, Chairman and CEO of R.J. O'Brien, for a fireside chat in Chicago with NFA President and CEO Tom Sexton. Gerry discussed his background and career journey, underscored the value of company culture, and offered advice to NFA employees. Thank you, Gerry, for sharing your experience and insights with NFA!

Last week, #NFA staff presented at the John Jay College (CUNY) Military and Veteran Services center. The center provides support to military #veterans, active duty service members, reservists, officer candidates and their families through tailored programs and assistance. Staff offered insights into NFA’s regulatory initiatives, discussed their #career pathways and highlighted how the skill sets of #veterans align with NFA’s work. Thank you to all who attended! 

Recently, Elizabeth Sheridan, Associate General Counsel, participated in the FMA's Securities Compliance Seminar. Elizabeth was featured on the "Key 2024 Legislative and Regulatory Initiatives" panel, which discussed cryptocurrency, persistent issues and challenges dealing with cybersecurity and technology governance, and trading rules and regulations. Thank you, FMA, for giving NFA staff the opportunity to share their knowledge and expertise to this informative discussion.

This Friday, #NFA is attending University of Illinois Chicago’s 51st Annual Accounting Banquet to celebrate those who have made significant contributions to UIC’s accounting program. NFA staff look forward to speaking with students, faculty and industry colleagues!

Recently, Nick Seidemann, Associate Director, Futures Compliance, participated in the CFTC and Kansas State University's Center for Risk Management Education and Research's Agricultural Commodity Futures Conference. Nick was a panelist on the "How Agricultural Risk Management's Evolving Ecosystem Impacts Futures Commission Merchants (FCMs) and End Users" panel, which discussed how the relationship between FCMs and customers has evolved over the last two decades. Thank you, U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission and Kansas State University, for giving NFA staff the opportunity to input their expertise and experience in this interesting discussion.

Recently, NFA hosted students from NABA Chicago. NFA staff were honored and inspired to share their insight and experience with a bright and talented group of students.

Karen Wuertz, Senior Vice President, External Affairs & Communications, serves as an associate member of the CFTC's Environmental Markets Advisory Committee (EEMAC). Recently, Karen attended the EEMAC's meeting at the University of Missouri – Kansas City. During the meeting, Committee members listened to presentations and discussion on the state of crude oil markets and the future of power markets, among other things. The Committee also heard updates from two EEMAC subcommittees on their continual work related to traditional energy infrastructure and metals markets. The EEMAC advises the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission on issues regarding energy and environmental markets and the CFTC's regulation of these markets. NFA staff appreciates the opportunity to share NFA's experience and knowledge to the important work of the EEMAC.

Ed Dasso, Senior Vice President, Market Regulation, serves as a member of the CFTC's Market Risk Advisory Committee (MRAC). Ed attended the MRAC's recent meeting, which continued discussing developments in the areas of central counterparty risk and governance, market structure, climate-related risk, and innovation and emerging technologies affecting the derivatives and related financial markets. The MRAC examines systemic issues threatening the stability of the derivatives market and advises the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission improving market structure and mitigating risk. NFA staff appreciate the opportunity to share NFA's experience and knowledge to the important work of the MRAC.
