This week my learning tour took me to family farmers in Nebraska to learn about regenerative #agriculture, #sustainable farming practices, and #carbon capture. It was great to understand what it takes to transition fields, use cover crops, and till vs. no-till approaches. I also learned a lot about #organic farming from a grower’s perspective. It’s important to understand the value chain of our markets and the future possibilities that innovation can bring to help the farmers at the start of it all. I also learned about using #USDA data to improve the quality of carbon credits and validate them, and how #blockchain solutions for carbon markets can create better price discovery. We got to see crops like soybeans, corn, wheat, alfalfa, beans, berries, as well as beef cattle. I even got to run across the alfalfa bales like when I was a kid and see the calves. Thanks to the Knuth Farm, Twogood Farm, and the whole team from Nori including Paul Gambill, Radhika Moolgavkar, JD, Rebekah Carlson, and Latif Peracha. Many thanks to my senior policy advisor P. Keaghan Ames too. U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission USDA #CFTC #regenerativeagriculture #sustainableagriculture #carboncredits #carbonmarkets #crypto
