Winning ‘Dookey Dash’ Key NFT Sells to Billionaire for $1.63 Million in Ethereum

Esports player Kyle “Mongraal” Jackson has sold his winning “Dookey Dash” key NFT to billionaire entrepreneur Adam Weitsman for 1,000 ETH, or $1.63 million, the 18-year-old gamer announced Monday. Mongraal had previously listed the key NFT for sale for 3,333 ETH, which is equivalent to $5.43 million.

“Super nice guy and thrilled the sale went through with him,” Mongraal said of the sale to Weitsman.

“A special thank you to Yuga Labs for hosting an incredible competition. I look forward to competing in future events. Royalties will be paid in full,” the content creator added.

This means “Dookey Dash” creators Yuga Labs will receive 5% of the sale in royalties, which will be a noteworthy 50 ETH, or $81,500.

Mongraal enlisted the help of a Stanford grad and cofounder of NFT community Underground who goes by “Tre” online to help him with the sale.

“I helped with negotiations with interested bidders,” Tre told Decrypt via Twitter DM. “Just wanted to help make sure he was getting the right price the key deserved.”

Last week, the Web3 community UpDAO placed a bid for 690 WETH on the asset, which at the time was about $1.1 million. Meme site 9GAG later placed a 999 ETH bid on the key but was ultimately outbid by Weitsman, who currently sports a Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) NFT as his Twitter profile picture.

While Weitsman may be most known for his scrap metal businesses and massive social media following, the billionaire is also fond of cryptocurrency and started a crypto mining business, Viridium, in 2021.

Mongraal has not yet responded to Decrypt’s requests for comment.
