HKEX welcomed two new companies and an ETF to #HongKong's markets today! #Congratulations to Sichuan Baicha Baidao Industrial Co., Ltd. (2555), Tianjin Construction Development Group Co., Ltd. (2515) and Hang Seng S&P 500 Index ETF (3195 / 9195).

It’s #EarthDay🌏! HKEX is proud to join the international community to celebrate the day and reaffirm our commitment to building a sustainable future for all.   This year’s Earth Day takes the theme of “Planet vs. Plastics”, focusing on the issue of plastic pollution around the world. To coincide with this theme, we have partnered with The Loops Hong Kong Limited, a social enterprise that offers door-to-door recycling services, to set up collection baskets at our offices, and close to 100kg of waste have been recycled so far this month! We also heard some practical tips on how to adopt a zero-waste lifestyle from The Loops founder, Jorch Wong, at a seminar held as part of our month-long #HKEXGoesGreen initiatives.   The Loops Hong Kong is a social enterprise that we have supported via HKEX Foundation 香港交易所慈善基金 since 2023. HKEX today published conclusions to its consultation on the enhancement of #climate-related disclosures under its #ESG framework. New climate requirements will align more closely with IFRS S2, to be effective in phases from the 2025 reporting year. Great news! HKEX has reached an agreement with Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE) and Shenzhen Stock Exchange (SZSE) to expand the scope of eligible #ETFs under #StockConnect.   The eligibility criteria for ETFs for both Northbound and Southbound trading, including the assets under management requirement and the index weighting requirements, will be relaxed to add even more vibrancy to our mutual market access programme.   The three exchanges will work closely on the business and technical preparations for the expansion, which is expected to take approximately three months. This enhancement is part of several measures announced today by the China Securities Regulatory Commission to support the continued development of Hong Kong’s capital markets. April is HKEX’s #Green Month, and we’re spotlighting some unique social enterprises committed to supporting the environment in our local community and beyond. Our colleagues recently visited the HK Timberbank factory in Yuen Long to learn how this social enterprise recycles trees felled from typhoons or ageing, helping transform them into building materials, designer furniture and art installations. It was a great eye opener for our colleagues being inspired by the creativity and ingenuity of the team at HK TimberBank.
