What about the quality of Austria as a business location? This was the key question at the recent gathering of numerous CEOs and CFOs of leading Austrian companies at the Federal Ministry of Finance by invitation of Magnus Brunner and Wiener Boerse. As different as the sectors and challenges of the companies are, there is a consensus on the need for action. Speaking for the capital market: In addition to implementing the Capital Markets Union, it would be even more important to significantly strengthen private and employer-funded pension schemes. After all, Europe will only remain globally competitive if it has substantial liquidity pools for equity funding. The recent announcement by the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen to abolish a quarter of the reporting requirements for companies was met with greatest scepticism, as the last years have seen a drastic increase in particularly these reporting obligations. #capitalmarket #equityfunding #locationfactors 📸 Alexander Felten

Wraping up winter with more than 1,000 one-on-one meetings at an altitude of over 1,700 meters in Zürs. I got loud, says the cover of the latest Börsianer Friends magazine. I have to admit: When talking about the regulatory tsunami that is literally weighing down our companies and the capital market, it is not easy for me to remain calm. We urgently need a reduction in bureaucracy in the form of a moratorium on rules and regulations if we are not to lose even more competitiveness to the global players – especially the US.
