More than half of trainees hired by London’s biggest investment banks come from just eight of the UK’s top universities, according to exclusive analysis by Financial News, reigniting concerns of elitism.

An investigation into the educational backgrounds of 600 trainees who have just finished internships at the City’s largest investment banks shows 53% come from a small elite band of universities that enrol a disproportionately large number of privately educated students.
