In Memoriam: NFA Remembers John J. Conheeney

John J. Conheeney

NFA remembers John J. Conheeney who passed away on October 8, 2018.  In the late 1970s and early 1980s, he served on NFA's Organizing Committee that developed the framework that would become National Futures Association. John also was an NFA founding Board member and served as Chairman of NFA's Board from 1990 to 1994.

NFA Chairman of the Board Mike Dawley said, "On behalf of NFA's Board and staff, I would like to recognize John for his numerous contributions to both NFA and the industry. Those of us who were fortunate enough to work with him know that John's leadership, knowledge, and professionalism were critical to transforming NFA from an idea into the successful organization it is today."

"John was not only instrumental to NFA's formation, but he was also a wonderful colleague and friend," said NFA President and CEO Tom Sexton. "He's left behind an amazing legacy. Our thoughts and condolences are with John's family."

"Anyone who knows the futures industry knows that John Conheeney was one of its most important leaders—a man of vision, intelligence and energy," said former NFA President and CEO Dan Roth. "More important, he was a man of character. He was warm and kind, quick to smile and slow to anger, and he treated every human being he met with the same level of respect, whatever their station in life. He will be missed but never forgotten."
