    NSE, BSE to Levy ASM on Equity Derivatives

    ​​In case of out-of-the-money index options, the ASM will be restricted to 2% .

    MUMBAI: The two leading exchanges NSE and BSE have announced that additional surveillance margin (ASM) will be levied on all gross open positions on futures contracts and on short positions in options contracts. This was decided at the meeting between Sebi,

    the exchanges and clearing corporations as an ongoing measure of risk containment and surveillance. An additional margin of 1% will be levied on index options, 0.5% on index futures and 1.25% on stock options and futures from September 14.

    In case of out-of-the-money index options, the ASM will be restricted to 2% .
