London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) today welcomed Dr Henry Kissinger to its London headquarters. Hosted by LSEG Chairman, Chris Gibson-Smith, the event was the latest in the Paternoster Series, welcoming global thinkers, statesmen and academics to the heart of London’s financial centre.
Speaking at the event Dr Kissinger addressed a wide variety of topics including global affairs; US-China relations; the on-going challenge for world leaders; and the response to the Arab Spring.
Commenting on the relationship between US and China, Dr Henry Kissinger said:
“The challenge for both countries is that neither of them has ever had to conduct an international system on a global basis. The opportunity they have is to try, over the next ten years, to establish a new international system on the basis of co-operation that will overcome some of the existing difficulties”.
Previous Paternoster Series speakers have included Nobel Economics Laureate, Armartya Sen; Chairman of Goldman Sachs Asset Management, Jim O’Neill and NYU Stern School of Business Professor, Nouriel Roubini.
