SunGard has won “Best New Product from a Technology Firm – Connectivity” in the 2012 FOW International Awards for the extension of its Valdi solution and the SunGard Global Network (SGN) into China.
To help its international customers position themselves to take advantage of new trading opportunities, SunGard has expanded connectivity in recent years to countries such as Poland, Turkey, Colombia, Malaysia and Indonesia. SunGard added access to China over the past year, where brokerage firms are already using Valdi and SGN to connect to the Dalian, Shanghai and Zhengzhou derivatives exchanges and to the CFFEX financial futures exchange. With SGN, customers can also offer direct market access (DMA) and care order services to buy-side firms.
SunGard’s Valdi gateway software provides access to more than 140 trading venues worldwide, which supports Software as a Service (SaaS) connectivity to more than 110 venues.
In addition, SGN delivers normalized, real-time price data from more than 110 venues via more than 25 hubs in financial centers worldwide. It connects more than 2,100 asset managers and more than 500 brokerage firms for rapid and efficient order routing and trading.
William Mitting, editor of FOW, said, “The FOW International Awards acknowledge technology companies that have solved a problem creatively or changed the way their customers approach trading challenges around the world. SunGard’s Valdi and Global Network have demonstrated the company’s commitment to participating in the growth of and providing access to trading in emerging regions such as Central and Eastern Europe, Latin America, and Asia.”
Philippe Carré, global head of connectivity for SunGard’s capital markets business, said, “To help our customers expand trading activities beyond their home countries, SunGard’s trading and connectivity solutions strive to provide access to emerging trading venues across the globe. With China's financial and commodity exchanges progressively opening up to foreign investors, SunGard already serves the local financial community while helping international customers seize new trading opportunities.”
