Barclays Rehires Tim Luke, an Adviser to Britain’s Prime Minister

Barclays said on Tuesday that it was rehiring Tim Luke, an adviser to Prime Minister David Cameron of Britain, as a senior banker for its technology, media and telecommunications group.

Mr. Luke, who over the last three years has served as a senior adviser on business, trade and innovation to Mr. Cameron, will rejoin Barclays as a vice chairman and will be based in New York City.

He had previously been at Barclays and at Lehman Brothers, which the British firm acquired in the fall of 2008, as the global sector head for technology equity research.

“We’re delighted to welcome Tim back to Barclays,” Laurence Goldberg, the bank’s co-head of global tech, media and telecommunications banking, said in a statement. “He has excellent client relationships throughout the industry and on a global scale. He has had a remarkable career and the skills and experience he has acquired will be hugely beneficial to our clients worldwide, the T.M.T. team and the firm.”

Separately, Barclays said that it had hired Anuj Mathur from Deutsche Bank as an Internet banker for its offices in Menlo Park, Calif., as part of an effort to expand that practice amid an increase in initial public offerings and deals in that sector.
