Tokyo Grain Exchange Inc. (TGE) announced that it has won a Futures and Options World (FOW) Award for International 2012 New Agricultural Contract of the Year for Rice Futures from FOW, a global derivatives magazine. The awards were revealed at the FOW International Awards ceremony on December 6, 2012 in London.
Japan’s rice futures market which launched the world’s first futures contract in 1730 was dormant since 1939. TGE relaunched the rice futures contract on August 8, 2011 and expanded new market opportunities by providing a hedging tool for those in the rice industry.
In February 2013, TGE will migrate its rice futures contract to Kansai Commodities Exchange and we thank you very much for your continued support.
