NZX is pleased to advise that, following feedback from market participants, NZX Securities Markets will move to shorter trading days on Christmas Eve, Monday 24 December and New Year’s Eve, Monday 31 December 2012.
NZX Securities Markets will close at 1.00pm and revised abbreviated trading hours will apply on those days.
“Christmas Eve is traditionally a day of relatively low markets activity because people are either already on holiday or preparing for their Christmas break,” said NZX CEO Tim Bennett.
“Given both holiday eves fall on a Monday this year, we wanted to allow for more flexibility and choice amongst market participants to finish work early without disadvantaging our listed companies and investors,” said Bennett.
