The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) will connect on the ASEAN Trading Link on October 15 after completing system tests with Thai brokers and the bourse will become the third stock exchange to add in the regional trading network following the connection between Bursa Malaysia and Singapore Exchange, with expectations that ASEAN investors should be attracted into Thai stock market by potential of Thai economy and strength of Thai listed companies.
SET President Charamporn Jotikasthira, said: “As SET’s new trading engine, SET CONNECT, has operated smoothly with full efficiency since early September, SET is now ready to top up financial opportunities for the Thai capital market. Joining in the ASEAN Trading Link would boost transaction of ASEAN securities trading conveniently and efficiently. In addition, it will increase options and varieties of financial products for Thai investors, boost business opportunities for brokers and listed companies.
“The Industry Wide Test (IWT) with brokers went smoothly, while there are initially 9 Thai brokers which are ready to offer trading via the ASEAN Trading Link on October 15, 2012. The others are developing their internal system and they plan to join the ASEAN Trading Link at the later stage. So, we strongly believe adding in the ASEAN Trading Link will attract more ASEAN investors to Thai stock market.” said Charamporn.
To educate and give insights of the regional investment for Thai investors, SET will join hands with brokers to hold a panel talk on Friday, Oct 19 on 3rd floor of SET building by inviting executives from Bursa Malaysia Berhad and Singapore Exchange to present overall investment in both countries and their top-pick stocks. In addition, there will be Thai leading brokers joining in ASEAN Trading Link to join in the talk as well.
The 9 Thai brokers which passed the IWT and are ready to offer trading via the ASEAN Trading Link are as follows; Krungsri Securities Plc., Maybank KimEng Securities (Thailand) Plc., KT Zmico Securities Plc., Finansia Syrus Securities Plc., KGI Securities Plc., Thanachart Securities Plc., Country Group Securities Plc., SCB Securities Co.,Ltd., and UOB Kayhian Securities (Thailand) Plc.
