The ceremony of Europe Banking Awards 2013 presented by the EMEA Finance magazine took place yesterday. EMEA Finance is a bimonthly magazine published in London. It is devoted to the banking and financial sector in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). Europe Banking Awards are presented annually to leading European financial institutions including investment banks, brokerage houses and fund managers. In addition to Polish financial institutions, this year’s award winners include institutions from Kazakhstan, the Czech Republic, Belarus, Portugal, Azerbaijan and Turkey.
WSE has received a special Achievement Award 2013 for five years of successful support for the development of the Polish capital market. In 2009 – 2013, the EMEA Finance magazine granted awards and commendations to many institutions present on the Polish financial market as well as Polish companies which completed the biggest privatisation IPOs and public offerings in Europe including WSE as the Best Privatisation IPO for its listing on WSE in 2010.
“In the past five years, we have granted the Achievement Award given to the most prestigious transactions in EMEA to nine transactions completed by or on WSE. We are impressed by the ambition and accomplishments of Warsaw exchange. It is an example of a company actively looking for new investors and issuers, but also for new growth opportunities, example of such being its recent acquisition of a stake in Aquis Exchange. This is the best proof of the strength of Warsaw Stock Exchange and the Polish capital market,” said Christopher Moore, Publisher and CEO of EMEA Finance.
“The special EMEA Finance award is an honour which would not have been possible without the efforts of many individuals, without issuers, brokers and investors. We are glad that IPOs of companies on WSE, the development of the Exchange and the Polish capital market have gained international recognition over that period. The awards ceremony is taking place in Warsaw for the first time, which also demonstrates the growing importance of the city on the map of European financial hubs,” said Adam Maciejewski, President of the Management Board of WSE.
