The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) announces that the exchange has amended its listing rules to facilitate holding company whose main business in abroad to list on SET, effective from September 1, and CK Power Limited, a holding firm, is preparing to list on SET after the rule adjustment.
This change emphasizes SET’s commitment to match the right financial opportunities for Thai’s overseas business and be in line with the upcoming ASEAN Economic Community (AEC).
SET and the Securities and Exchange Commission have reviewed the listing rules for holding company whose main business is in overseas countries, enabling the company to list on SET. The amendment includes reducing the minimum stakeholding that a holding company must invest in its main business in order to facilitate joint ventures with foreign firms.
“Expansion of business into Indochina has been steadily growing. SET, as a fundraising source for Thai firms, has committed to support them so that they can expand into new areas and boost growth for their existing activities,” said SET President Charamporn Jotikasthira.
CK Power Limited, a holding company with its main business in Lao P.D.R., has mandated Siam Commercial Bank pcl, KTB Advisory Co., Ltd., and Advisory Plus Co., Ltd. to be its financial advisors for the listing. CK Power is a holding company having its main business abroad and can now utilize Thailand’s capital market to boost its business opportunities for long-term growth.
Plew Trivisvavet, Chairman of CK Power Limited, said; “CK Power’s core asset is Nam Ngum 2 Hydroelectric Power Plant, located in the Lao P.D.R., which produces and sells its electricity to the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT). This business is beneficial to both nations. In light of the upcoming ASEAN Economic Community, similar inter-national and multi-national businesses will surely flourish. With such strong support from various parties, such as the government, private sector, banks and the capital market, Thai businesses will have better opportunities to expand their markets and reach their great potential in the region. This new prospect will benefit the people of Thailand and the region as a whole.”
