Osaka Securities Exchange Co., Ltd. (OSE) successfully started the nighttime trading for Stock Index Futures and Options trading(*) on September 18, 2007, and today, 5 year has passed since the launch.
Since the launch of the nighttime trading ("Evening Session" at the time) in 2007, OSE has extended the trading hours twice. In July 2011, OSE has extended trading hours to 3:00 on the next day and changed the session's name to "Night Session" from "Evening Session".
In 5 years, trading volume of the nighttime trading has increased almost 5 times compared to that of the beginning of the launch of the nighttime trading. OSE recognizes that the major factor of this accomplishment is the increase of needs for hedge trading due to the globalization of Japanese market.
OSE will continue to contribute to improve the Japanese financial market by developing derivatives market.
