- KDM Shipping Public Ltd. is the third foreign company to introduce its shares to the WSE this year.
- The transport company is the 12th Ukrainian company listed on the WSE’s stock markets.
KDM Shipping Public Ltd. is the 41st foreign issuer listed on the WSE’s Main Market and the second foreign company newly listed on the Main Market in 2012. At the same time, the issuer is the 436th company listed on the Main Market and the 12th new listing on the Main Market in 2012.
Following today’s new listing, the two stock markets of the Warsaw Stock Exchange list 48 foreign companies from 20 countries (41 companies on the Main Market and 7 companies on NewConnect). Ukrainian companies still have the biggest representation among listed foreign companies. Since the first new listing of a Ukrainian company in 2006, no less than 12 companies have chosen the Warsaw Stock Exchange to raise growth capital (11 companies on the WSE’s Main Market and 1 company on the alternative stock market NewConnect).
As part of a multi-annual strategy of attracting foreign issuers to the trading floor in Warsaw, the WSE has taken a range of initiatives aiming to interest Ukrainian issuers and investors in the Polish capital market. These include mainly the creation of a permanent representation in Ukraine in 2008, the creation of the national index of Ukrainian companies WIG-Ukraine in 2011, and the creation of the Central and Eastern European companies index WIG-CEE in May 2012.
“The WSE is the most attractive venue in Central and Eastern Europe where foreign investors can raise capital, especially at the time when capital markets are struggling with the pessimistic sentiment while competition for investment capital and issuers in the region is increasingly harsh. We are also working to ensure that foreign companies present on the WSE set a very high standard of investor relations and disclosure obligations,” said WSE CEO Ludwik Sobolewski.
The issuer is one of the leaders of the Ukrainian shipping industry, primarily involved in the niche segment of dry bulk river-sea freight in the Black, Azov and Mediterranean sea regions. The issuer also provides ship construction and repair services and offers passenger river transport services on the Dnieper River in the Kiev region.
