After the turmoil of May, which impacted the stock, bond and commodity markets, the situation seemed to stabilise in June. On the stock market, the S&P 500 index (+4.12%) benefited from a noticeable rebound, recovering two thirds of its losses, while implied volatility (17.1%) returned to its level of May. Despite last month’s stumble, the S&P 500 index recorded a comfortable gain (+9.49%) for the first semester of 2012. On the fixed-income market, convertible bonds (+2.58%) followed the upward trend and regained over half of their losses whereas, unmoved by the shakeup in May, regular bonds (+0.04%) remained stable for another month, with a limited drop for the LGBI (-0.35%). After a spectacular step back in May, the commodity market stabilised (+0.54%) and the dollar fell sharply (-1.48%).
