UBS’s Stenzler Departs as Co-Head of U.S. Mergers

UBS’s co-head of mergers and acquisitions in the United States, Ehren Stenzler, has left the firm, a spokesman for the Swiss firm said on Wednesday. It is the second prominent departure from the investment bank in two days.

Mr. Stenzler’s departure was widely expected. His longtime banking partner, Aryeh Bourkoff, resigned as UBS’s head of investment banking for the Americas on Tuesday.

Both men are veteran media bankers with a number of prominent deals under their belts. Among those transactions was Comcast‘s purchase of a controlling stake in NBC Universal. Mr. Stenzler also advised on International Paper’s takeover of Temple-Inland.

Mr. Stenzler was named to his most recent position last June, alongside Marc-Anthony Hourihan.

It is unclear where the two men will go, though they are exploring their options, according to people briefed on the matter.

A UBS spokesman, Peter McKillop, said that the firm remained committed to its investment banking operations, which may mean the hiring of additional senior bankers.
