Fiserv names new chief information officer

BROOKFIELD, Wis. (AP) — Fiserv Inc., which creates the technology for online bill paying, mobile banking and other financial services, said Monday that Cliff Skelton is the company's new chief information officer, replacing Maryann Goebel who will retire.

Skelton will be responsible for the Fiserv's global information technology infrastructure, among other things. Part of his job will be improving the efficiency of Fiserv's technology platforms.

Skelton was previously global chief technology and operations officer at Ally Financial Corp., a job he held since 2007. Before joining Ally, Skelton worked at Bank of America.

The company said Goebel will stay on as an adviser until she retires July 1. She joined the company as chief information officer in June 2009. She started her career in 1973 as a systems programmer analyst with Philadelphia Electric Co., according to Fiserv.

Shares of Fiserv rose 26 cents to $68.76 in afternoon trading. They are near the upper end of their 52-week range of $70.67 reached two weeks ago.
