CFTC Staff Responds to Frequently Asked Questions on Commodity Options

Washington, DC – The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) Division of Market Oversight (DMO) staff is responding to frequently asked questions (FAQ) from market participants and other interested parties regarding commodity options.

The responses include: general information regarding CFTC regulation of commodity options; general information regarding filing CFTC Form TO (unreported trade options); and answers to various technical questions regarding Form TO, trade options reporting, and CFTC Letter 13-08 (granting no-action relief from certain reporting and recordkeeping provisions of section 32.3(b) of the CFTC’s regulations for end users eligible for the trade option exemption).
