HSBC considering walking away from U.K. government loan scheme, Telegraph says

HSBC (HBC) is considering walking away from the U.K. government's plans to offer government guarantees to up to GBP20 billion of bank loans for small firms, the Sunday Telegraph reports. HSBC is understood to feel that the Chancellor's loan-guarantee scheme isn't workable because it would prove to be too expensive under the structure being discussed.
