France shows disdain for unregulated binary options – warns against 155 firms

During recent years, France has become a very fruitful target market for many retail binary options brands, with many dedicating significant resources toward onboarding a French client base, however the nation’s regulatory authority, Autorité des Marchés Financiers (AMF), has taken an increasingly dim view toward unregulated off-exchange binary options brands which target French citizens, as the regulator has today published a warning to potential investors regarding some 155 companies which, according to the AMF, are soliciting for business by calling French citizens.

The list is extensive, with the French authorities detailing that the firms listed are using aggressive advertising campaigns on the internet to promote binary options trading and announcing very significant returns in a very short time.

AMF advises that, prior to committing to investing with such companies, potential clients should always check that the financial intermediary who proposes or recommends these investments appears on the list of financial institutions authorized to operate in France, and concludes by noting that non-authorized services providers may be subject to criminal penalties.
