UK ETF trading activity hits record high in October

The London Stock Exchange (LSE) has seen record ETF trading in October as investors turned to passive vehicles for tactical exposure.

Order book turnover hit £6.2bn last month, the LSE said, the highest trading volume since the first product was listed on the exchange in 2000. Investors used passives for exposure across a wide range of asset classes during the month - the 20 most traded ETFs include both equity and fixed income products covering a range of geographic regions and sub-asset classes. ETFs with exposure to the FTSE 100 accounted for £895m, or 14.4%, of the £6.2bn traded last month.
