Singapore Exchange’s (SGX) Bull Charge 2014 charity run has raised $2.6 million this year, benefiting hundreds of underprivileged children, youth, the elderly and families from four charities, namely Asian Women’s Welfare Association (AWWA), Autism Association of Singapore, Fei Yue Community Services and Shared Services for Charities. Guest-of-Honour Mr Lawrence Wong, Minister for Culture, Community and Youth & Second Minister for Ministry of Communications and Information, flagged off 6,000 runners at The Float@Marina Bay for the 11th edition of the annual run. “The presence of thousands of participants from Singapore financial community and listed companies makes today’s Bull Charge run really special. Thank you for raising the much needed funds for the underprivileged and helping our beneficiaries to realise their aspirations,” SGX CEO Magnus Bocker said. As part of the fundraising efforts this year, SGX also involved the sponsors and charities in a futsal tournament where Members of Parliament and sponsors competed, a mooncake-making session with the elderly from AWWA, and the sale of lollipops from Singapore’s largest lollipop wall at VivoCity. More than 120 corporate sponsors supported the Bull Charge this year. Diamond sponsors who each contributed $100,000 comprised HCL, NASDAQ, Noble Group, ThaiBev and UOB Group. Over the past 11 years, Bull Charge has raised almost $24 million dollars for over 50 different charities.
