First Day Trading of London Metal Mini Futures

Day-session turnover of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited's (HKEx) London Metal Mini Futures, its first Asia Commodities products, was 1,452 contracts on the futures’ first day of trading today.

"Today was a breakthrough for our first Asia commodities business," said HKEx Chief Executive Charles Li.  "It is also a milestone for us as we expand in Hong Kong beyond our well-established equity and equity derivatives businesses."

"Base metals are new to Hong Kong's markets so we are encouraged by the initial interest in our London metal mini futures," Mr Li added.  "New products often take time to develop and we are taking a long-term view with our Asia commodities contracts."
