Just as the Palo Alto-based manufacturer temporarily stopped assembly of the Model S to retool its Fremont facility for the Model X electric crossover, Tesla Motors opened its second store and service centre in the United Kingdom. Accessible from the M4 and M40 in West London, the new location features a Tesla Model S design studio, a seven-bay service area and the U.K.’s first purpose-built two-bay delivery centre.
The West Drayton-based dealership is the second step in Tesla Motors' two-year long rapid expansion plan throughout Great Britain. The new location will also offer Model S owners a free shuttle service to the nearby Heathrow international airport. This exclusive shuttle service allows customers the opportunity to have their car serviced whilst away on holiday or business. “By taking any hassle out of servicing and flying, I believe that we can delight our customers,” said Georg Ell, Tesla’s U.K. country director. “The location of our new West London store and service centre makes a perfect base for this service.”

According to the electric vehicle manufacturer, customers will be able to visit Tesla stores and service centres across the country by the end of the current year. In this regard, the American company is currently recruiting new employees for upcoming facilites in Birmingham, Crawley, Manchester, Bristol, Newcastle and Edinburgh. Anyway you look at it, Tesla's offensive in Great Britain is a biggie, considering that the marque has set foot on British soil just a month ago, when the first five examples of the right-hand drive Tesla Model S were delivered to customers.

In the United Kingdom, the RHD Tesla Model S holds a starting price of £50,280 OTR, including the £5,000 government plug-in grant. However, British customers of the Model S also benefit from other incentives such as zero road tax, showroom tax and an exemption from the London Congestion Charge. This model is also eligible for the 100 percent First Year Allowance applicable to company purchase and a 0 percent Benefit-in-Kind tax. The least expensive model delivers 312 miles of NEDC range on a full charge and gets a 17-inch touchscreen, a 4.2-second 0 to 60 mph acceleration and other top drawer stuff.
