Activity in the stock market is markedly higher than last year. There was an average of 85,112 transactions per day in August, which is 25.6% more than in the same month in 2013.
The average daily value of share trading reached NOK 3.4 billion in August. This is 11% higher than in the same period last year.
So far this year, the average daily value of share trading is NOK 4.1 billion, with a daily average of 84,388 transactions. This represents a 23% increase in the average daily value of trading and a 17.7% increase in the number of transactions compared with the same period last year. August is traditionally a quiet month because of the annual summer holidays. The number of Norwegian market participants drops off in July, and August is also a quieter month as far as foreign investors are concerned, as can be seen from the monthly activity graph below.
