KVH Co., Ltd., Asia’s leading information delivery platform today announced that it has begun offering the KVH 100Gigabit Ethernet Service between the metropolitan areas of Tokyo/Yokohama and Osaka as of April 3, 2014.
KVH launched Japan’s first point-to-point 100Gigabit Ethernet service in March of 2013 in major business areas including Tokyo, Osaka and Kobe to address the demand from content providers, carriers, cloud service providers and ISPs for large capacity networks. With the launch of this 100Gigabit Ethernet Service connecting Japan’s two largest metropolitan areas, KVH satisfies the need among major bandwidth users to respond rapidly to increasing traffic and connectivity demands among locations such as data centers, network centers, research and development centers, and internet exchanges that are separated between these two markets. The KVH 100Gigabit Ethernet Service complements KVH’s Ethernet Network Service to support a full range of bandwidth between 10Mbps to 100Gbps. Provided with guaranteed bandwidth of up to 100Gbps and available with two network interfaces, 100GBASE-LR4 and 100GBASE-SR10, the KVH 100Gigabit Ethernet Service is offered with an optional redundant configuration in which the service traverses along two completely separate fiber routes.
“This new service launch is a testament to KVH’s commitment to supporting Japan in being a leader in Ethernet technology with fast, high-capacity network connectivity across Japan’s major metropolitan markets.” said Machifumi Kashiwagi, Vice President, Product Management at KVH. “KVH is dedicated to meeting its customers’ needs and will continue to bring innovative and affordable high-capacity bandwidth solutions to the market.”
In addition, customers will also be able to take advantage of the KVH 100Gigabit Network Upgrade Package launched in August of 2013, which bundles the KVH’s 100Gigabit Ethernet Network Service with Cisco’s ASR9000 for this new connection between Tokyo/Yokohama and Osaka. This service package is aimed to provide an optimum solution to enterprises that are in need of 100Gbps network capacity, but are hesitant to migrate to the service given the initial costs to upgrade network infrastructure.
Pricing for the KVH 100Gigabit Ethernet Network Service will vary according to interface and other deal-specific factors.
