What is changing?

As previously announced in Equity Technical Update #2013 - 26, NASDAQ OMX® is currently undergoing a technology refresh on The NASDAQ Stock Market® (NASDAQ®) system. State-of-the-art network and server equipment will be deployed in order to achieve a more efficient and more robust infrastructure to support the growing needs of our customers. The refresh is part of the NASDAQ OMX commitment to leading the industry in technology standards. Changes impacting customers will be made in phases, the first of which is the migration of customer Drop ports.

What do I need to do to?

Customers will be required to make the necessary network and IP changes in order to connect to the new NASDAQ market system via their OUCH, Flite, and Drop ports. NASDAQ OMX is currently advertising the new equities network 206.200.120.0/21 in order to give our customers ample time to prep their network configurations.

When will I have to change my IPs?

The customer migration schedule is as follows:

  • Phase One: The Drop migration is scheduled to begin on November 11, 2013. Customers must be migrated off their old Drop IPs no later than January 13, 2014.
  • Phase Two: OUCH and Flite migrations will begin mid Q1, 2014. An exact date will be provided at least 30 days prior to the beginning of the migration period.

How do I obtain my new port IPs?

All customers should have already received their new Drop port IPs. If you have not yet received them, please contact NASDAQ OMX Trading Services at +1 212 231 5180, Option 1.

OUCH and Flite port IPs will be provided in the weeks leading up to the migration period.

Do I need to make changes if I connect via FIX or RASH?

No, FIX and RASH ports will not require new IPs.

Will I be required to hot-cut my ports?

No, both the old and the new environments will be live in parallel for the migration period. Customers may migrate at their leisure during this period.

Will I be able to test my new port IPs prior to cutover?

Yes, there will be several opportunities for customers to test their new port IPs.

For the Phase One Drop migration, a street-wide UAT window is scheduled for Saturday, November 9, 2013. The testing windows for Phase Two will be communicated as we get closer to the migration date. To sign up for the UAT, please email NASDAQ OMX Trading Services.

Will I be double-billed for ports up in parallel?
