- Warsaw Stock Exchange has been awarded in the category Financial Market Innovation of the Year 2013 for the implementation of the trading system UTP.
- Wiesław Rozłucki, the first President of Warsaw Stock Exchange in 1991-2006 and current Chairman of the Exchange Supervisory Board, received a Special Award on the 20th Anniversary of Parkiet.
The gala ceremony presenting the Bulls & Bears and Golden Wallet awards for 2013 took place at the lobby of Centrum Giełdowe on 19 March 2014. Gazeta Giełdy Parkiet was the organiser of the event.
Warsaw Stock Exchange was awarded in the category Financial Market Innovation of the Year for the “implementation of UTP, the state-of-the-art trading system used on the world’s biggest exchanges. With UTP, the Polish market has opened up to new categories of investors including global investment firms involved in algorithmic trading. UTP was implemented efficiently without interruption to trading in instruments.”
The Universal Trading Platform (UTP) developed by NYSE Technologies is one of the world’s most advanced trading platforms. The implementation of UTP by WSE was the most important infrastructure project on the Polish capital market in many years and has placed Warsaw Stock Exchange among the leading global exchanges. It allows WSE to offer a new quality of exchange services, to develop the product offer, add new derivative instruments (including futures contracts on WIBOR reference rates and Treasury bonds) and structured instruments. The next stage of the UTP project scheduled in 2014-2015 is to implement a special system dedicated to derivatives.
“We accept the award with great satisfaction,” said Adam Maciejewski, President of WSE. “It is all the more valuable now, almost one year after the implementation of UTP, the time necessary to put it to a real test and actual evaluation by the market. This means that the award has a strong base as an expression of acceptance for the implemented technology change and recognition of the work of everyone involved in the implementation, whom I thank once again.”
