The value of session trading in equities on the Main Market was PLN 19.7 billion in January 2014 compared to PLN 20.9 billion in January 2013, a decrease of 5.9% year on year. The average value of trading per session was PLN 935.7 million, a decrease of 1.5% year on year.
The total value of trading in equities on the Main Market was PLN 21.2 billion in January 2014, a decrease of 30.4% year on year.
The WIG index lost 0.9% and the WIG30 index lost 1.9% year to date in 2014.
NewConnect
The total value of trading on NewConnect was PLN 125.3 million in January 2014, an increase of 45.0% year on year (PLN 86.4 million in January 2013). The average value of trading per session was PLN 4.7 million in January 2014, an increase of 26.6% year on year.
The NCIndex gained 1.9% year to date.
Derivative Instruments Market2)
Futures contracts: The monthly volume of trading in index futures was 669.2 thousand contracts in January 2014 compared to 604.6 thousand contracts in January 2013, an increase of 10.7% year on year. The number of open interest in index futures increased by 7.3% year on year to 118.1 thousand at the end of January 2014.
The volume of trading in single-stock futures decreased by 22.4% year on year (from 63.5 thousand contracts in January 2013 to 49.3 thousand contracts in January 2014). The volume of trading in currency futures was 202.0 thousand in January 2014, a decrease of 4.7% year on year.
The volume of trading in futures contracts on interest rates (Treasury bonds and WIBOR rates) was 419 in aggregate in January 2014. The incremental volume of trading in interest rate contracts from their introduction to trading in October 2013 was 3.4 thousand.
Options: The volume of trading in WIG20 index options was 40.8 thousand in January 2014, a decrease of 17.5% year on year compared to 49.4 thousand options in January 2013.
The volume of trading in all derivatives was 961.8 thousand instruments in January 2014, an increase of 3.4% year on year (929.9 thousand instruments in January 2013).

The value of listed non-Treasury bonds (corporate, municipal and mortgage bonds) stood at PLN 60.0 billion at the end of January 2014 compared to PLN 54.2 billion in January 2013 (an increase of 10.7%). The monthly value of total trading decreased by 11.4% from PLN 496.6 million in January 2013 to PLN 439.8 million in January 2014.
Treasury BondSpot Poland
The value of cash transactions on Treasury BondSpot Poland decreased by 2.4% year on year from PLN 37.2 billion in January 2013 to PLN 36.3 billion in January 2014. The value of conditional transactions decreased by 7.5% from PLN 45.4 billion in January 2013 to PLN 42.0 billion in January 2014.
Structured Products, ETFs and Investment Certificates Market
Structured products and investment certificates: The aggregate monthly value of trading in structured products and investment certificates increased by 12.5% from PLN 32.8 million in January 2013 to PLN 36.9 million in January 2014.
ETFs: The value of trading in ETFs decreased by 0.3% year on year from PLN 10.24 million in January 2013 to PLN 10.21 million in January 2014.

Electricity: The volume of forward transactions on the electricity market reached 5.2 TWh in January 2014, a decrease of 28.8% year on year. The volume of spot transactions in electricity increased from 2.2 TWh in January 2013 to 2.4 TWh in January 2014 (by 12.0%).
Property rights: The monthly volume of trading in property rights decreased by 46.3% year on year from 3.4 TWh in January 2013 to 1.8 TWh in January 2014.
Natural gas: The total volume of trading on the gas market was 362.7 GWh in January 2014 (41.7 GWh of spot transactions and 321.0 GWh of forward transactions).
WSE held 21 trading sessions in January 2014, one less than in January 2013.
