Bursa Malaysia Derivatives (BMD), a subsidiary of Bursa Malaysia Berhad, surpassed 10 million annual contracts yesterday (Monday, 2 Dec 2013), an all time historical high record for the Malaysian derivatives market.
The cumulative number of contracts traded in 2013 as at end of trading day was 10,024,113, inclusive of Exchange For Related Positions (EFRP) and Negotiated Large Trades (NLT). Comparatively, the total contracts traded in 2012 were 9,649,707 contracts.
The volume growth reflects the vibrancy of the Malaysian derivatives market, attributed to participation of domestic and international players arising from various business developmental efforts.
The visibility and accessibility of BMD via the CME@ GLOBEX trading platform has enhanced foreign participation. The Open Interest for all products on the same day was 200,024 contracts.
