California Governor Appoints UC’s Famiglietti to Water Board

Jay Famiglietti, head of the UC Center for Hydrologic Modeling at the University of California at Irvine, has been appointed to the Santa Ana Regional Water Quality Control Board by California Governor Jerry Brown.

Famiglietti, professor of earth system science and civil and environmental engineering at UC Irvine, is founding director of the UCCHM. The center combines satellite data with remote sensing analyses and computer models to detail water availability in California, including the state of increasing groundwater depletion in the agriculture-rich Central Valley.
