Main Market
The value of session trading in equities on the Main Market was PLN 17.2 billion in August 2013, an increase of 19.8% year on year. The average value of trading per session increased by 25.5% year on year from PLN 653.7 million in August 2012 to PLN 820.4 million in August 2013.
The incremental value of session trading increased year on year from PLN 127.2 billion in January-August 2012 to PLN 144.9 billion in January-August 2013 (by 13.9%).
The total value of trading in equities on the Main Market was PLN 20.5 billion in August 2013, an increase of 16.6% year on year (PLN 17.6 billion in August 2012). The incremental turnover year to date was PLN 171.5 billion, an increase of 23.0% year on year.
The WIG index gained 17.6% year on year and gained 3.0% year to date at the end of August 2013.
NewConnect
The total value of trading on NewConnect increased by 14.5% year on year from PLN 96.8 million in August 2012 to PLN 110.9 million in August 2013. The incremental value of trading on NewConnect year to date was PLN 698.6 million in January-August 2013, a decrease of 24.4% year on year.
The NCIndex lost 6.0% year to date and lost 9.5% year on year at the end of August 2013.

Futures contracts: The monthly volume of trading in index futures was 552.0 thousand contracts in August 2013 compared to 557.8 thousand contracts in August 2012 (a decrease of 1.0%). The average daily volume was 26.3 thousand contracts in August 2013 and 25.4 thousand contracts in August 2012. The number of open interest in index futures increased by 6.3% year on year to 113.0 thousand at the end of August 2013.
The incremental volume of trading in index futures year to date was 5.4 million contracts, a decrease of 13.6% compared to 6.3 million contracts in January-August 2012.
The volume of trading in single-stock futures increased by 51.8% year on year (from 27.9 thousand contracts in August 2012 to 42.4 thousand contracts in August 2013). The volume of trading in currency futures was 286.3 thousand in August 2013, an increase of 173.2% year on year.
Options: The volume of trading in WIG20 index options was 88.2 thousand in August 2013, an increase of 18.7% year on year compared to 74.3 thousand options in August 2012. The incremental volume of trading in options increased by 34.5% from 416.2 thousand options in January-August 2012 to 559.6 thousand options in January-August 2013. The number of open interest in options was 76.8 thousand at the end of August 2013 and was the highest in two years (since August 2011).

The value of listed series (corporate, municipal and mortgage bonds) stood at PLN 58.8 billion at the end of August 2013 compared to PLN 49.0 billion in August 2012 (an increase of 19.9%). The monthly value of session trading increased by 33.8% from PLN 92.8 million in August 2012 to PLN 124.2 million in August 2013.
Treasury BondSpot Poland
The value of cash transactions on Treasury BondSpot Poland decreased by 46.0% year on year to PLN 23.6 billion in August 2013. The value of conditional transactions also decreased from PLN 51.9 billion in August 2012 to PLN 24.5 billion in August 2013 (by 52.8%).
Structured Instruments Market
Structured products and investment certificates: The aggregate value of trading in structured products and investment certificates increased by 71.9% from PLN 16.1 million in August 2012 to PLN 27.7 million in August 2013.
ETFs: The value of trading in ETFs was PLN 13.8 million in August 2013 compared to PLN 21.9 million in August 2012 (a decrease of 37.0%).
Commodity Market3)
Electricity: The volume of forward transactions on the electricity market reached 12.2 TWh in August 2013, an increase of 29.9% year on year. The incremental volume of forward transactions in electricity year to date increased by 90.4% year on year and stood at 90.3 TWh. The volume of spot transactions in electricity increased from 1.6 TWh in August 2012 to 1.9 TWh in August 2013 (by 16.4%).
Property rights: The monthly volume of trading in property rights decreased by 52.1% year on year from 3.4 TWh in August 2012 to 1.6 TWh in August 2013. The volume of trading in property rights was 31.2 TWh in January-August 2013, a decrease of 23.9% compared to 41.0 TWh in January-August 2012.
Natural gas: The total volume of trading on the gas market was 48.4 GWh in August 2013 (17.4 GWh of spot transactions and 31.0 GWh of forward transactions). The incremental total volume of trading in natural gas year to date was 580.5 GWh in January-August 2013.
The WSE held 21 trading sessions in August 2013, one less than in August 2012.
