Hector Sants appointed Julius Baer chairman

Sir Hector Sants, former head of the Financial Services Authority (FSA), has been appointed new chairman of Julius Baer.

Sants will replace Gian Rossi, head of Northern, Central and Eastern Europe and member of the bank's executive board, from the 1 July. Rossi will step down from his role as chairman after nine years, but will remain actively involved with the firm's business in the UK, the group said. Rossi said: "It is a great honour to welcome Sir Hector to Julius Baer. "With his appointment we continue to demonstrate our ongoing commitment to the UK, and I am sure that we will benefit greatly from his long-standing experience in the financial services industry."
