Domino's has created a new delivery car that can carry 80 pizzas at a time.

All the passenger seats have been taken out to provide maximum space for pizza boxes.

The vehicle also features a warming oven on the back seat - for up to four pizzas - to make sure the food is hot when it arrives at each customer's home.

The oven door warns of 'hot contents inside' and the gas tank cap cautions 'Unleaded fuel only. No pizza sauce.'

The company, which delivers around 400million pizzas a year in the U.S., unveiled the modified Chevrolet Spark yesterday at its headquarters in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

It will deliver 96 of the cars - which also include space to store two-liter soda bottles - to stores in Boston, Seattle, Detroit and San Diego and other cities over the next 90 days.

The cars will cost Domino's franchises between $20,000 and $25,000 each, compared with $12,170 for a standard Spark.

Domino’s U.S. president Russell Weiner said in a statement: 'Even though Domino’s deliveries will still primarily be made in the personal cars of delivery drivers, the Domino’s DXP represents an innovative leap into the 21st century and takes delivery to a new level of efficiency and quality.

'This is not a gimmick. This is not the Oscar Mayer Weinermobile.'

The car, which took three years to design and produce, has the Domino's logo in its grill, instead of the Chevrolet one. There is also a puddle light that projects the pizza firm's name on to the ground.

The oven heats up to 140 degrees via LED lights.

Pizza delivery represents roughly two-thirds of Domino's business, which is the second largest pizza chain behind Pizza Hut.

Founded in 1960, Domino's now operates 12,100 stores in more than 80 countries around the world, including more than 5,000 in the US.

Domino's had global retail sales of more than $8.9billion in 2014, including more than $4.1billion in the U.S. and nearly $4.8billion internationally.

Earlier this month, the company unveiled its first store in the birthplace of pizza - Italy - with one opening in Milan.
