The exhibition “Traces of Disorder” will be on show at Deutsche Börse headquarters in Eschborn from Friday 23 October. The exhibition will display photographic works from the Art Collection Deutsche Börse that deal with traces of political conflict and disrupted or changing social orders. “Traces of Disorder” comprises some 140 works from 18 international artists including groups of works from classic photojournalists such as Barbara Klemm, Philip Jones Griffiths and Anja Niedringhaus. With a feel for the photographic moment and a personal visual language, they create complex images with balanced composition, documenting violent conflict and everyday life in controversial political systems. Deutsche Börse began to build up a collection of contemporary photography in 1999. Today, Art Collection Deutsche Börse comprises over 1,600 works by more than 100 international artists. Art Collection Deutsche Börse is dedicated to diverse themes in contemporary photography from the mid-20th century. . It spans works by artists already regarded as classical figures of photography right through to photography by up-and-coming young talents. The company has transferred its cultural work to a non-profit foundation. Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation gGmbH will now continue all activities in collecting, exhibiting and promoting contemporary photography.
The exhibition also shows works by artists who are breaking new ground in critical documentary, including Richard Mosse, Simon Norfolk and Julian Röder. They consciously use aesthetic techniques such as perspective, cropping and colouring to set themselves apart from the everyday flood of images and encourage the perplexed viewer to look more closely.
The exhibition has been put together by Anne-Marie Beckmann, curator of the Art Collection Deutsche Börse. It is open for viewing until 29 January 2016 through art tours. These require registration via email to: art@deutsche-boerse.com. Further information on the collection and forthcoming tour dates for “Traces of Disorder” are available online at www.deutsche-boerse.com/art and on facebook/ArtCollectionDeutscheBörse.
