Virgin Atlantic air hostess arrested for smuggling gold at Delhi airport

Initial reports suggest that the racket was being operated from London and the two accused had met the kingpin at a five star hotel in London.

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) on Friday claimed to have busted a racket of gold smugglers with the arrest of an air hostess and a stewardess of the UK-based Virgin Atlantic Airlines from the Delhi airport.

Initial reports suggest that the racket was being operated from London and both the accused had met the kingpin at a five star hotel in London. The DRI has written to its London counterparts for the support in the investigation.

Meanwhile, the airlines confirmed the involvement of their crew members in the case and has assured full cooperation in the investigation.

"We are aware of a situation involving our cabin crew in Delhi and we are fully cooperating with the authorities. However, as this is an on-going investigation, we are unable to comment further at this time," said the official spokesperson of the airline.
