Markit Buys Lloyds' Halifax Housing Index
Vendor will use the index to create financial products based on the UK housing market, officials say.
Under the deal Markit acquires the index and all associated intellectual property, and will also become the index administrator, while Halifax─Lloyds' property loans and mortgages business─will continue to publish the monthly index on behalf of the vendor. The index branding and methodology will remain unchanged.
