BATS is pleased to offer Members the opportunity to participate in the second of four weekend tests of the new EDGA Exchange and EDGX Exchange trading platforms located in Equinix NY5 data center in Secaucus, NJ on Saturday, November 15, 2014. All symbols and functionality normally available in production will be made available for these weekend tests.
Certification Required to Participate
Please be advised that order entry will not be supported on production sessions until certification has been completed. All EDGA/EDGX Members are required to re-certify their order entry protocol(s) of choice on the new EDGA/EDGX trading platform in NY5.
NY5 certifications may be scheduled through the BATS Trade Desk effective immediately by completing the certification questionnaire found on the BATS public web site. To schedule your firm’s certification, send the completed certification questionnaire including features you wish to utilize to the tradedesk@bats.com by clicking on the Submit button within the form. We strongly encourage you to schedule your EDGA/EDGX re-certification soon.
BATS will not require re-certification of common features across exchanges if they are successfully tested in any one exchange within NY5. Features unique to a specific exchange will have to be certified in the respective exchange’s certification environment.
Test Script
Weekend tests will take place from 8:30AM ET – 1PM ET per the following schedule:
- 8:30AM ET: Order may be entered and queued for the pre-market session open.
- 9:00AM ET: Pre-market session open.
- 9:30AM ET: Regular market session open.
- 12:30PM ET: Regular market session close. Start of post-market session.
- 1:00PM ET: End of post-market session.
Note that these tests provide Members an opportunity to confirm all required physical and logical connectivity has been established and properly configured for their needs. They also allow Members to test EDGA and EDGX functionality that has been migrated to BATS technology. BATS strongly encourages Members to test all functionality used in their normal course of business to help ensure they have a positive and seamless experience during the January 12, 2015 migration.
Among the features/functions BATS suggests Members consider testing are:
- Session Connectivity and Configuration
- Order Type and Handling
- Order Routing
- Market Data Receipt
- Risk Management
- Participation in Applicable Trading Sessions (i.e. pre-market, regular session, post-market)

Schedule
In addition to trading five test securities (CBO, IBO, ZBZX, ZVZZT, ZWZZT) daily on the EDGA and EDGX trading platforms in NY5, BATS has also reserved the following dates for Member weekend test opportunities of the new EDGA and EDGX trading platforms located in the NY5 data center:
- Saturday, December 13th
- Saturday, January 10th (final testing opportunity)
