ESMA has published the latest set of semi-annual statistical data on the performance of credit ratings including transition matrices and default rates in its Central Rating Repository (CEREP). This new set of statistics covers ratings data up to 31 December 2012.
CEREP provides information on credit ratings issued by 18 Credit Rating Agencies (CRAs) which are either registered or certified in the European Union.
The CEREP database allows investors to assess for the first time on a single platform the performance and reliability of credit ratings on different types of ratings, asset classes and geographical regions over the time period of choice.
CEREP is updated on a semi-annual basis with statistics covering up to the preceding reporting period, which covers six months lasting from 1 January to 30 June or, from 1 July to 31 December. Future updates of CEREP will be announced on ESMA’s website.
CEREP provides statistics on 18 CRAs registered and certified. Currently, however, there are 3 more CRAs which have been registered or certified recently and their data will be included in CEREP after the next reporting period.
The CRAs are responsible for the accuracy and completeness of the data sent.
