Banco Nacional de Desenvolvimento Economico e Social, Brazil’s national development bank, approved 3.2 billion reais ($1.57 billion) of loans for wind farms last year.

The lender disbursed 3.4 billion reais for wind farms in 2012, up from 2.3 billion reais in 2011, and expects to furnish 15 percent more funds for projects this year, Rio de Janeiro-based BNDES’s press office said today in a statement on Twitter that was forwarded to Bloomberg News.
